On May 18, 1982, Larry Herndon (Cedar Rapids Cardinals - 1972) led the Detroit Tigers to a 11-9 win over the Oakland Athletics going 3-4 with three HR and seven RBI.
Larry Herndon hit .274 with 107 HR and 550 RBI during his 14 year MLB career playing for the Cardinals, Giants and Tigers. He was a member of the 1984 Detroit Tigers team that won the World Series.
Larry Herndon played briefly for the 1972 Cedar Rapids Cardinals team that finished with a mark of 51-77 under manager Gary Geiger. Herndon hit .286 in seven games.
