Rescue boat on Cedar River today, but no rescue

The Cedar Rapids Fire Department will conduct river rescue training this afternoon on the Cedar River between the Edgewood Road and 5-in-1 bridges.
Fire department spokesman Greg Buelow said that firefighters expect to be on the river from 2 to 4 p.m.
Buelow said the day's plan calls for an hour of classroom instruction followed by two hours of “hands-on rescue training.”
