Abortion is nothing to celebrate
The Gazette Opinion Staff
May. 24, 2010 12:18 am
In the May 16 guest column by Joe Lock, president of Planned Parenthood of East Central Iowa, he invited the public to join its 30th anniversary celebration. Abortion is nothing to celebrate. Abortion is a national holocaust. Why does Planned Parenthood reject God's Commandment, “Thou shalt not kill”?
Planned Parenthood is the largest U.S. abortionist. It kills more than 300,000 unborn children every year. In Iowa, 6,000 are killed, the vast majority at Planned Parenthood's abortion facilities.
Human life begins at fertilization, and God provides a unique, eternal soul. The right to life comes from God alone. Planned Parenthood may be protected from criminal prosecution by unjust, immoral judicial decisions, but it is accountable to God.
Caring, supportive resources are available for crisis pregnancies at Birthright and Aid to Women in Cedar Rapids. Rachel's Vineyard offers healing retreats for women and men who have experienced the tragedy of abortion. The Silent No More Awareness organization provides testimonials to such tragedy.
Let's celebrate the gift of new human life. Trust in God to calm our fears and resolve any crisis pregnancy. No crisis is too big for God.
