Council makes it official: Allan Thoms is interim city manager starting June 1

The City Council last night formally approved the hiring of Allan Thoms as interim city manager.
The initial contract, which will pay Thoms $12,500 a month without city-employee benefits, is for three months and can be extended. He starts June 1, although Thoms was in the council audience last night.
The council is in the process of hiring a national search firm to help it find a permanent replacement for Jim Prosser, who signed a “separation agreement” with the city last month after 44 months in the city manager job.
Thoms, 71, has a wide range of public-sector and private-sector managerial experience
