Iowa finishes 2nd in Big Ten Tournament
May. 30, 2010 7:27 am
Minnesota beat Iowa 15-5 to claim the Big Ten Tournament baseball title late Saturday night in Columbus, Ohio.
Iowa (30-28) finished in second place in the Big Ten Tournament for just the second time in school history. The last time was 1983.
Iowa rallied through the consolation bracket to reach the championship final but couldn't overcome Minnesota.
"I was very proud of how our team battled out there today and all year," Iowa Coach Jack Dahm. "It is easy to give in but our guys go after it. I told our guys people were going to say we had a great month, I don't agree with that. This started last year and with their commitment we were able to achieve the things we did this year."
Center fielder Kurtis Muller and pitcher Jarred Hippen each were named to the Big Ten Tournament team.
