Haerther lifts Kernels to sixth win in a row, 2-0

Cedar Rapids, IA - Casey Haerther delivered a two run double in the sixth inning to break open a scoreless game and give the Cedar Rapids Kernels their sixth win in a row, 2-0, over Wisconsin. The win capped a monstrous month of May where the Kernels went 23-6 and moved into first place in the MWL West with a 33-18 record.
Kernels starter Garrett Richards (5-2) allowed four hits and struck out 11 over six innings for the win. Jeremy Berg allowed two hits and struck out two over two innings of relief and Mike Kenney worked a perfect ninth for his fourth save. Wisconsin starter Eric Arnett (0-5) held the Kernels in check for most of his seven innings, striking out six and giving up two runs on six hits.
Haerther and Mike Trout combined for five of the Kernels six hits with Haerther going 3-3 with two doubles and Trout going 2-4 with a run scored and stolen base. Michael Wing went 1-3 and Jeremy Cruz reached on a fielder's choice and scored on Haerther's double in the sixth.
The Kernels now hit the road for six games, starting Tuesday, June 1st with games at Lansing and Great Lakes.
