BOSTON (AP) - Oakland Athletics left-hander Brett Anderson and right fielder Ryan Sweeney have left the game against the Boston Red Sox.
Anderson pitched two innings Thursday before leaving with a sore left elbow after allowing two runs on five hits. He was replaced by Vin Mazzaro.
Sweeney left in the bottom of the third after colliding with second baseman Mark Ellis as they chased a foul fly by Kevin Youkilis. Sweeney slid and was struck in the head by Ellis' left leg, complained of dizziness and was removed for precautionary reasons. Eric Patterson entered the game in left field and Gabe Gross shifted to right.
