Tully and liberal group lost political ethics
Jun. 4, 2010 12:15 am
I take vigorous exception to the actions of the liberal front group, “Iowans for Responsible Government,” which is headed by Rob Tully, a former state chair of the Democratic Party.
This group is mailing out printed materials to Republicans and running television ads to influence Republican primary voters with disinformation comparing candidate and former Gov. Terry Branstad to the liberal Democrats - Bill Clinton, Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi. The obvious purpose of this deceptive propaganda is to confuse and suppress GOP primary turnout, weaken a particular candidate, and create disunity in Republican ranks.
I believe their activities reflect the lowest grade of political behavior.
I ask my fellow Republican (no matter who you plan to vote for in the June 8 primary) not to be influenced by the deceptive actions of this front group. Second, I would say to Mr. Tully and his undisclosed backers that they should regain their political ethics and pride and respect Iowans by honestly approaching them with what they stand for, and not by spreading deplorable misinformation about their opponents.
Robert Anderson
Chair, Johnson County Republican Central Committee
