On June 5, 1971, Joe Hague (Cedar Rapids Cardinals - 1966) went 2-3 at the plate with Two HR, four RBI, scored a pair of runs and walked in the St. Louis Cardinals 5-3 win over the Cincinnati Reds at Riverfront Stadium. Hague hit each of the HR of former Cedar Rapids Braves pitcher Tony Cloninger (1959) who took the loss as another Cedar Rapids Cardinals alumni Jerry Reuss (1967) picked up the win by working eight inning while allowing three earned runs.
Joe Hague hit .239 with 40 HR and 163 RBI during his six year MLB career playing for the St. Louis Cardinals and the Cincinnati Reds.
Joe Hague hit .251 with 9 HR and 24 doubles in 119 games for tyhe 1966 Cedar Rapids Cardinals squad. The team finished 81-40 in 1st place during the regular season under manager Ron Plaza. The CR Cardinals fell to Fox Cities 2 games to 1 in the Championship Series.
