On June 11, 1979, Ted Simmons (Cedar Rapids Cardinals - 1967) went 3-5 at the plate with two HR six RBI and scored two runs in the St. Louis Cardinals 9-7 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Ted Simmons hit .285 with 248 HR and 1389 RBI during his 21 year MLB career playing for the St. Louis Cardinals, Milwaukee Brewers and the Atlanta Braves. The 8-time all-star played in the 1982 World Series as a member of the Milwaukee Brewers squad and he finished 2nd in the National League Batting Title race in 1975 with a .332 average
Ted Simmons was a member of the 1967 Cedar Rapids Cradinals squad that finished with a mark of 53-67. Simmons hit .267 with four HR and 11 doubles in 41 games for the CR Cardinals.
