Branstad-Reynolds in CR

Jun. 24, 2010 6:42 pm
After introducing his running mate, state Sen. Kim Reynolds, R-Osceola, to supporters in Cedar Rapids this afternoon, GOP nominee for governor Terry Branstad took a few questions.
He explains why he chose Reynolds, who he calls a "real spark plug." He expects that the GOP convention will accept her enthusiastically Saturday, despite some rumbling on the right from supporters of his former primary rival Bob Vander Plaats.
He wouldn't go into detail on his "private" conversation with Vander Plaats at the Sioux City airport earlier this month. Some of BVP 's pals want him on the ticket, but Branstad points out that "didn't work" last time. Vander Plaats was GOP nominee Jim Nussle's mate in 2006.
And TB won't be listening tomorrow afternoon when Vander Plaats breaks his silence on Steve Deace's radio show. Enjoy.
