The Cedar Rapids Kernels lost twice Thursday night at Burlington and twice by the same score at that.
The Bees won the conclusion of a suspended game when Gerald Hall singled in Deivy Batista in the bottom of the ninth for a 5-4 victory. The Kernels had rallied for two runs in the eighth to knot that game at 4-4 Wednesday night before rain suspended the game with the Kernels still batting in the eighth.
In the regular game Thursday night, the Bees again rallied for a 5-4 victory, this time with two runs in the bottom of the seventh. The Bees were aided in that rally by two wild pitches from Kernels reliever Young-Il Jung, who also allowed three singles in the inning. He took the loss and was also credited with a blown save.
Casey Haerther and Richard Cates had three-hit games for the Kernels, who dropped to 7-7 for the second half of the Midwest League season.
Reliever Mike Kenney (2-1) took the loss in the completion of the suspended game. Cates and Carlos Ramirez each two hits for Cedar Rapids in that game.
