MARION MILESTONE: Marion leaders will reach a milestone July 21 with groundbreaking on the 184-acre Marion Enterprise Center on the city's east edge. The joint effort by the city and Marion Economic Development Company is to facilitate relocation of businesses from the city's central corridor brownfield, in turn enabling redevelopment of that space. The Enterprise Center project received a $1.3 million state grant to help pay for infrastructure improvements, as well as city tax incentives and loans from five local financial institutions.

FALCONS FLOURISH: Falcons are off the endangered species list in Iowa, thanks to a reintroduction effort initiated in Cedar Rapids, where 57 of the 207 young falcons reared in Iowa since 1993 came from a nest on the U.S. Bank building at 222 Second Ave. SE.
