Closing of home business an outrage
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Jul. 13, 2010 12:40 am
Concerning the city of Coralville ordering the home plant business of John Kane and Linda Edwards to close down: I think this is an outrage. They were evidently grandfathered in when their location was annexed by the city of Coralville. When the city's James Kessler gave them his word that it would continue to be OK, I guess they should have had it in writing!
In this time of unemployment and higher cost of living, it seems to me to be an admirable thing for these two people to work hard and earn their living. Too many people don't want to work anymore and cause our taxes to skyrocket. These are hard-working people, earning their own way, so is it fair to ungrandfather them? I think not.
