We let government take away our rights
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Jul. 16, 2010 12:32 am
It is the time of the year (Independence Day) when we remember those who gave so much to call this country free. I wonder, have we failed to consider what the Bill of Rights gave us? Have we let government take those rights we have away from us, little by little?
Have we forgotten what the Bill of Rights says in the first section regarding the rights of people: “All men are, by nature, free and equal and have certain inalienable rights, among which are those of enjoying and defending life and liberty, acquiring, possessing and protecting property and pursuing and obtaining safety and happiness.”
Please give us the wisdom to see what is happening with the local control of traffic in Cedar Rapids. Let us not forget driver education is still a tool that can useful.
