A lyrical toast to Sinclair smokestack
Jul. 20, 2010 12:04 am
Inspired by Todd Dorman's excellent and somewhat whimsical column (July 14) regarding Cedar Rapids' infamous Sinclair smokestack plinth, I have composed the following limerick to honor its memory after it and its ancient burden has been finally turned to dust:
There once in the city of Quinth
Stood a smokestack on top of a plinth;
Though arguments ensued
With some of them rude,
The downed stack was toasted with absinthe.
