Man leads police on short pursuit down First Avenue
Cedar Rapids police arrested a man that led them on a vehicle chase down First Avenue on Saturday night.
“It started off just as a simple traffic stop,” said Sgt. Steven Yeardley.
An officer attempted to pull Kevin Holmes, 28, over at Third Avenue and 10th Street SE, said Yeardley for driving while barred. But, Holmes didn't stop, and instead led squad cars east down 1st Avenue.
Yeardley said Holmes ran red lights along one of the city's busiest streets.
The pursuit ended when Holmes pulled over near 18th Street SE. No one was injured in the brief pursuit, said Yeardley.
Holmes was taken to the Linn County Jail, and now faces charges related to the chase.
