TCR put on impressive production of ‘Rent’

Another standing ovation to Theatre Cedar Rapids for its first-class production of “Rent.” Its Pulitzer Prize-winning creator, Jonathan Larson, would be proud of how incredible these performances were. With complicated numbers, performances and transitions in this play, TCR tackled it with style and class.
Sometimes the topics of AIDS and death scare unwise people away. I personally think “Rent” is, in many ways, a modern telling of Frank Capra's “It's a Wonderful Life.” Like that classic story, “Rent” is about love, friendship and life. “Rent” is everything.
