Thousands of prospective private college students in Iowa will take a look at the educational possibilities this week.
Twenty eight different Iowa private colleges and universities participate in Iowa Private College Week. And probably 400 of those potential students will tour Coe College in Cedar Rapids this week.
Rod Pritchard, director of Marketing and Public Relations at Coe, said those students who visit a minimum number of private schools this week (three) will become eligible to win $500 bookstore voucher drawings if they later enroll at any participating private school.
Pritchard said “it's a way for every college to showcase itself-to come up with special programs and to really tout the benefits of a private education here in the state of Iowa.”
At Coe, typically 55% of the incoming freshman class comes from the state of Iowa. So the Iowa Private College Week is a key event in marketing the school to prospective students.
This is the 12th year for the cooperative event.

There are 28 private colleges and universities in Iowa that are taking part in the 12th annual week long event where students can take tours of campuses and learn about academics and college life from current students.
