UPDATE: Authorities found what they suspect is a mobile methamphetamine lab inside a car at a gas station off Interstate 80 near Williamsburg early Wednesday.
An Iowa County sheriff's deputy noticed a car parked at the Kum & Go at I-80 exit 216 around 1 a.m. and talked to the three people who were inside. During the investigation, he found what he believed to be a meth lab, Lt. Tim Walters said.
Materials the deputy located were sent to the state crime laboratory in Ankeny for analysis.
The deputy arrested one of the people who was in the car, 30-year-old Silas Gentz, of Cedar Rapids, for interference with official acts. After spending a few hours in jail, he pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor charge in court and was released.
Another man and a woman who were also in the car were not arrested at the scene. Authorities said more charges and arrests in the case are possible in the future.
The convenience store was closed because the car was parked near it, Walters said. Narcotics officers were assisting with the investigation.
