Looking for a little weekend entertainment? It's summer in Iowa, so there's plenty going on. If you're up for a road trip, try the Iowa State Fair on for size, or if you prefer to stay closer to home, perhaps the St. Jude's Sweet Corn Festival is more your speed. It's also Kids Day with the Iowa Hawkeyes for their annual scrimmage Saturday.
Here are a few other highlights:
Cabaret in the Courtyard
Thursday to Saturday, Aug. 12 to 14 and 19 to 21
The beat goes on at Brucemore this weekend and next with Cabaret in the Courtyard. The courtyard will be transformed under the stars with cocktail tables and chairs. This weekend, Kevin Worley, a Cedar Rapids native touring with the Tony-winning “Jersey Boys,” will perform to a sold-out crowd. Don't despair, though, tickets are still available for Orquesta Alto Maiz next weekend. Bring beverages but no food.
