Better security needed at sweet corn festival
The Gazette Opinion Staff

My 13-year-old granddaughter was brutally assaulted and injured by a teenage thug at the St. Jude's Sweet Corn Festival for being cute. The incident was racially motivated, and I thought that our president campaigned for racial unity. I feel that our race relations have deteriorated under this administration. This unfortunate situation was even more disturbing, since it was a church-sponsored event.
I would like to see increased security at this celebration to prevent such an incident in the future, or cancellation if it poses a threat to our younger attendees.
