Officials investigate house fire in Independence

Officials are still investigating the cause of a fire in Independence.
A 911 call came in at 12:15 p.m. Thursday of a house fire at 413 7th Avenue SE in Independence. Upon arrival, officials saw heavy smoke inside the home. Independence fire officials worked to clear away the smoke and any remaining flames.
There was one occupant in the house at the time of the fire believed to suffered from smoke inhalation. Area Ambulance officials attended to the individual but they were not taken to a hospital.
At this time the cause of the fire has not been determined. This fire is being classified as suspicious until the exact cause can be determined.
