Recorder’s office staff doesn’t deserve attack
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Oct. 7, 2010 2:21 pm
When I was named Linn County Recorder in 1997, I realized I was accepting an elected office. I have petitioned to have my name on the ballot four times. The campaign process occasionally turns negative, and I accept the possibility of being critized publicly.
However, the staff at the Linn County Recorder's Office do not deserve the comments aimed at them in an Oct. 3 letter (Louis Van Marm).
I am proud of them and the hard work they accomplish. They are not in the practice of, nor are they going to sit back and watch, as customers line up waiting for one staff member to do all the work. The clerical specialists and deputies in the Linn County Recorder's Office are knowledgeable, helpful, dependable and dedicated to serving the citizens.
The writer of the letter obviously has an agenda. It's unfortunate he attacked hard-working, honest public servants to try to make me, the elected Linn County recorder, look bad.
