Second-String Sportswriters Football Selections

We've got faces for radio and voices for the newspaper. This week a few of us SourceMedia Group sportswriters will make the same selections on our multiple websites as the stars who appear in the Saturday morning version of The Gazette. Here's our chance to shine:

JEFF JOHNSON

• Iowa State 28, Utah 27 – When was the last time ISU played a home game during the day? Just curious.
• Northern Iowa 21, Southern Illinois 20 – Coach Farley has found the secret to eliminating turnovers. Just rotate your QBs in the same series.
• Michigan State 31, Michigan 28 – The Wolves are as close as you can get to a one-man football team.
• Last week: 3-0; Overall: 11-4

SCOTT DOCHTERMAN

• Iowa State 27, Utah 24- Hilton's magic will spread to Jack Trice for a Saturday night.
• UNI 27, Southern Illinois 26 - Check out The Hill after the game. I did that once a million years ago.
• Michigan 31, Michigan State 27 - Nobody puts RichRod in a corner. Nobody.
• Last week: 1-2; Overall: 10-5

JEFF LINDER

• Utah 38, Iowa State 31 – EP says the Cyclones are good at night. I don't think they're good enough this night though.
• UNI 24, Southern Illinois 17– I'm picking this game because I have been asked to.
• Michigan 28, Michigan State 27 – Spartans will do what they usually do in big, big games. They'll find a goofy way to let it slip away.
• Last week: 2-1; Overall: 13-2

K.J. PILCHER

• Utah 24, Iowa State 20 – Went to "The Social Network." I ran into people I didn't like in high school and they kept showing me pictures of their kids.
• UNI 23, Southern Illinois 17 - I just read a list of 'the 100 things to do before you die'. I'm pretty surprised 'yell for help' wasn't one of them...
• Michigan State 31, Michigan 28 -  Two antennas met on a roof, fell in love and got married. The ceremony wasn't much, but the reception was excellent. Thanks to Jeremy Ward from the Golden Egg in SE Cedar Rapids.
