Hawkeyes get commitment from Texas linebacker Spears
Melvin Spears of Allen HS (Allen, Texas), rated a three-star outside linebacker prospect by ESPNU, has accepted a Class of 2011 scholarship offer from head coach Kirk Ferentz of Iowa.
The 6-foot-2, 220-pound Spears was also offered a scholarship by Minnesota, Arkansas State and North Texas.
