The biggest Cedar Rapids/Marion Metro contest this season will be played tonight. No. 6 Linn-Mar hosts No. 10 C.R. Washington. The Lions are 6-0 and coming off a win at Dubuque Senior, while the Warriors are 5-1 after being handled by Iowa City High last Thursday.The game features a pair of talented running back in Linn-Mar's Jer Garman and Washington's Alex Carr. Garman should surpass 4,000 career rushing yards this game. The pair is separated by just three yards (1,104 for Carr and 1,101 for Garman) and one touchdown (Carr has 18, Garman 17). Garman does hold a better average, carrying the ball for more than nine yards a carry.We should be starting right one time as the sophomore game only has 9:30 left to go in the game at 6:18.Linn-Mar sophomores win an OT thriller, 20-19, stopping a two-pt. conversion run. Both games I've attended at Linn-Mar this season has had an OT sophomore game.By the way, my presence at Linn-Mar activities cause the property value here to plummet. Sorry...Bob Brooks is in the house. He's seen a ton of these big Metro games. He still gets excited for them.Plenty of media here for the game,. which is Linn-Mar's homecoming. I see KGYM and WMT. Washignton will receive.Washington gets on the board first for 7-0 lead with 9:41 to go in first. Warriors go 77 yards on 6 plays. carr rushes for 33 yards, including 3-yard score. Big play from CRW QB A.J. Puk to Michael Daugherty for 32 yards that got Washington deep in Linn-Mar Territory.Washington holds Linn-Mar on a 3-and-out and then Brandon besong takes the punt, runs to the right sideline and then makes a cut to the left and is off to the races giving Washington a 14-0 lead with just under 8 min. to go in first.Washington takes over at LM 47 and makes it 21-0 on a carr 12-yd. run.LM answers with a kick return to the CRW 37. Two garman runs and then Atwarer hits Josh Montague on a 15-yd play action pass. 21-7.LM strikes again. Lions recovered a fumbled snap on CRW 30. Score on Atwater's 1-yd QB sneak. PAT is blocked for 21-13 CRW lead.CRW drives but Carr fumbles at midfield and LM takes over. Moves down to CRW 11 and kicks a FG. 21-16 with 4:46 to go in 2nd.#6 LM battles back and takes the lead. After shutting down Washington on a 3-and-out, LM scores on a 41-yd. TD pass from Atwater to Spencer Nelson, capping a 58-yard, 5-play drive. Conversion run failed , but LM leads 22-21 with 1:29 to go in 1st half.First score of the second half comes with 1:26 to go in 3rd. Carr scores on a six-yard run, diving across the goalline. Warriors up 28-22.
