I consider myself an independent and vote for the person I believe is best suited for the position. I was invited to hear Mariannette Miller-Meeks, candidate for 2nd District representative, speak at a friend's home and found myself getting excited about politics for the first time. I felt a connection with this candidate. She is dedicated, smart, hard-working and honest.
When I compare Miller-Meeks to Dave Loebsack, there is quite a difference. Miller-Meeks has real-life experience. She comes from a humble upbringing and has had to make her own way in life. She spent 24 years in the Army achieving the rank of lieutenant colonel. As an ophthalmologist, she has seen firsthand the problems with the new health care law. She has excellent ideas on how to implement a better and more cost-efficient health care system. Ask Miller-Meeks about many issues, and you will be impressed with the depth of understanding and ideas she has. And just being in her company, you can feel her commitment to hard work, practicality, frugality and honesty.
