FOURTH QUARTER
I have to stop it here. Check the Hlog later tonight for my column on the game and other material. Thanks.
Iowa's 8th drive. Starts at Iowa 40 because of another Mich. kickoff out of bounds. 3rd-and-9 converted on pass to McNutt to Mich. 42 ... Huge Robinson 26-yard catch-and-go play, with a great grab of a short pass that wasn't sharp. He shed tackle after tackle. ... Mike Myers made a 30-yard field goal with 2:53 left for a 38-28 lead.
Mich. 7th drive. Starts at UM 31 with 8:08 left. 69 yards, 6 plays, a jump ball rainbow pass to Hemingway for 31 yards to the Iowa 3, and Forcier on a 3-yd. keeper for the TD. Iowa 35-28 with 6:55 left.
Iowa 6th drive: 3-and-out, conservative Iowa run on 3rd-and-6 gets little.
Michigan 6th drive: Forcier-to-Hemingway for a 45-yd TD pass, Iowa 35-21. Hyde got torched.
Iowa 5th drive of half: A 93-second TD drive capped by a 19-yard pass from Stanzi to DJK for the receiver's third TD of the game and Stanzi's 13th TD toss of the year. Iowa 35-14.
Starts with Mich. first-down at Iowa 45 ... Michigan drove for a touchdown. Authoritative offensive line play on drive. Iowa 28-14, 13:10 left. Forcier didn't do anything noticeably wrong on drive, and hit a 3rd-and-10 for 11 yards to keep it going.
THIRD QUARTER
Mich. 5th drive: Still Forcier at QB. Drove to Iowa 45 when quarter ended.
Iowa 4th drive: 65 yards, 5 plays. Touchdown. A. Robinson 11-yard run, untouched. Iowa 28-7 with under 2 minutes left in quarter.
Mich. 4th drive: Starts at UM 35 with 5:12 left. Ends with horrible Forcier interception that Micah Hyde reeled in.
Iowa 3rd drive: 3-and-out. Good defense on 3 straight plays by Michigan. Good punt-coverage by Iowa.
Mich. 2nd drive: Starts at Mich 15. ... It was apparently Binns who blocked the field goal earlier ... Denard Robinson runs for 12 and is hurt. He was down for a while, but left field under his own power. Enter Forcier. He did a nice job on the drive, converting two fourth-downs, but Karl Klug slammed the ball from freshman RB Smith for a turnover at the Iowa 14.
Iowa 1st drive: 3-and-out after safety Kovacs shoots the gap and drops A. Robinson for loss on 3rd-and-1.
Mich. 1st possession of 2nd half: Starts at Mich. 23. 3-and-out. Had Michigan taken it downfield for a score, who knows what happens the rest of the way. But now? Looking really good for Iowa.
HALFTIME: IOWA 21, MICHIGAN 7
Iowa is beating Michigan the way Arizona beat Iowa. Long interception return. Return of a blocked field goal. And offensive competence.

SECOND QUARTER
Mich. 5th possession starts at the UM 7 after a block-to-the-back penalty. The drive got to the Iowa 45, then Mich. punted on 4th-and-4.
Iowas's 5th possession: Starts at Mich 48 ... Nine plays, touchdown. A. Robinson ran for 15 on 3rd-and-14 on the play that probably gutted Michigan's spirit for good. Iowa 21-7, 4:31 left.
Michigan's 4th possession: Starts at the UM 20. Drove to Iowa 15, stalled, tried 38-yd field goal, Clayborn blocked it, no one chased the ball until Sash picked it up and ran it back to the Michigan 48.
Begins with Michigan on its 3rd drive, with a 3rd-and-5 at the 50. Interception by Sash on a Robinson bomb that was way overthrown. ... 31-yard TD pass to DJK. Review was upheld. Iowa 14-7 with 13:22 left.
FIRST QUARTER
On that drive, the Michigan defense is what we thought it was. Safety Jordan Kovacs didn't reel in an interception that could have been a loooooong return for a touchdown, and Iowa scored on the subsequent play.
Iowa 3rd drive: Starts at Iowa 16. ... Rodriguez ripped the refs during the break in play ... Adam Robinson for 14 yds. on a trap on the first play ... Gettis in at RG for Iowa ... Hawkeyes went 84 yards on 9 plays, short pass for a 14-yd Stanzi-to-DJK on 3rd-and-10 for the touchdown. 7-7, 1:29 left in 1st.
Michigan 2nd drive: Starts at Mich. 20. Stooopid personal foul on Michigan's left tackle for a 2nd-and-16 instead of a 2nd-and-3 ... 3-and-out, but freshman Will Hagerup blasted a 63-yard punt.
This couldn't have started much worse for Iowa. No first-downs on two drives, and the Wolverines took it down the field for a score on their first possession. If Michigan does likewise now, sound the alarms.
Iowa's 2nd drive: Starts at Iowa 44 after 38-yd DJK return. Michigan's starting center is done for the day. ... 3-and-out. Receivers didn't distinguish themselves on two plays, and the third-and-15 never had a chance to gain 15 yards.
Iowa's No. 1 in scoring defense. It will need to give up no more touchdowns to retain that distinction.
Michigan's 1st drive: RB Smith went right at Clayborn and got 11 yards on the first play. Michigan center David is hurt, and will be replaced by a redshirt freshman ... The Wolverines drove 75 yards in 13 plays, 8-yd TD pass from Robinson to Smith. Robinson with just two carries on the drive.
Iowa's first possession: 3-and-out. Two running plays netted minus-2 yards. Donahue pressured and had a poor punt.
ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The Michigan radio guys are talking about Iowa's defense as if it is a hybrid of the New York Jets, Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers.
Rich Rodriguez on the Michigan radio pregame broadcast: "The key this year is to be patient, run our system."
Michigan's crowd, I must say, is very charged up 15 minutes before kickoff. Very in to the marching band's performance."
I woke up this morning. Drove from Cedar Rapids to Iowa City. Got on a plane to Ann Arbor. Got in a van to Michigan Stadium. Got a first-hand look at the renovated Michigan Stadium. A century ago, you had to take a stagecoach up here and it took four days.
The Michigan alumni band is on the field playing "Hail to the Victors." It is the one song everyone here knows. They play it over and over and over and over and over.
Well, it is a catchy tune. The condensed lyrics:
Hail! to the victors valiant
Hail! to the conqu'ring heroes
Hail! Hail! to Michigan
the leaders and best
Hail! to the victors valiant
Hail! to the conqu'ring heroes
Hail! Hail! to Michigan,
the champions of the West!
