Veridian shreds more than 39,000 pounds of documents

Veridian Credit Union held a free Community Shred Day on Saturday, Oct. 16, in conjunction with National Protect Your Identity Week at four branch locations in Iowa.
The event drew more than 1,100 people, who protected their identities by bringing 39,730 pounds of documents to be shredded. Veridian partnered with Iron Mountain and On-Site Document Destruction to provide on-site shred trucks for the events at Waterloo-based Veridian branches in Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Johnston and Waterloo.
The shredded material will be recycled into commercial grade paper towels, toilet paper and other paper products. Veridian estimates that the event saved 480 trees.
More than 12,000 pounds of documents were shredded at Veridian Credit Union's Eastside Hy-Vee branch in Iowa City and Westdale branch in Cedar Rapids on Saturday, Oct.16. for Veridian's annual Community Shred Day.
