Decision on Iowa City liquor store license on hold

The Iowa City City Council Tuesday night voted to delay indefinitely a decision on the liquor license renewal application for a downtown liquor store.
Police Chief Sam Hargadine has recommended the council deny a liquor license to Sauce, 108 E. College St., because of the financial problems of the store and its owner, Mike Porter.
Sauce recently filed for bankruptcy, and City Attorney Eleanor Dilkes said she wants more time to check with the bankruptcy court on how its proceedings affects the city's decision.
