Male breast cancer a major concern as well

Regarding the Oct. 17 article about male breast cancer in the Sunday Parade magazine: It's about time this is recognized.
My husband, Marlowe Bacon, passed away Sept. 7, 2009, from male breast cancer. He had a mastectomy in September 2001, and it returned in the bones in 2008 and then spread to his other vital organs.
Ever since 2001, we have done a Bacon float in local parades promoting male breast cancer awareness as well as other cancers. We will continue to do this as a promise made to him to keep the word out there. And we are so proud to finally see an article dedicated to male breast cancer.
Men need to be aware of it, and it does have to be promoted, right along with breast cancer in women. Every October, I get upset because it is never recognized. A simple pink ribbon laid on top of a blue ribbon, with some blue showing, is for male breast cancer.
