A firsthand account of Miller-Meeks’ history

My considerable depth and breadth of knowledge of Mariannette Miller-Meeks was acquired atypically. I was on the committee that chose her out of several hundred applicants to be an Iowa Eye resident for three and a half years.
Her lifelong saga that dwarfs Horatio Alger's best offering speaks eloquently to her perseverance, integrity, intelligence, amicability and trustworthiness, among other things. Working with her in the clinics and operating rooms provided a firsthand opportunity for personal verification of the above.
Mariannette, if elected, would not vote for any bill without first reading and thoroughly understanding it. She would be in Washington to represent 2nd District folks, not to take orders from more senior or powerful Beltway regulars. Further, she would rail against any bill to increase taxes or expand an already overextended government.
Also, know that one of her favorite admonitions is that Cicero delivered, 55 BC, to the Romans: “The budget should be balanced, the treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. People must again learn to work instead of living on public assistance.”
