DECORAH 42, BOONE 14 - Martin Stalberger passed for 209 yards and three touchdowns to lead Decorah to a 42-14 win over Boone in a first-round Class 3A prep football playoff game last night at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls.Stalberger completed 5 of 8 passes, connecting with Alex Smith from 67 yards, Jacob Humpal from 57 and Gayge Samuelson from 3 for touchdowns.“He just keeps getting better and better,” Decorah Coach Bill Post said of Stalberger. “He's just making wise choices each week, getting better and better and smarter and smarter.”The Vikings (9-1) led, 28-6, at halftime.“We told the guys we need to get after them, try to make an impression right away,” Post said.Samuelson rushed for 63 yards and also had two interceptions.
DYERSVILLE BECKMAN 22, CLARION-GOLDFIELD 20 - Connor Golden's PAT pass to Robbie Anstoetter on the first overtime possession proved the difference in a 2A first-round game at Dyersville.Clarion failed on its 2-point conversion.Beckman, down 8-0 at halftime, tied the game with 38.1 seconds left in regulation on 1-yard Golden run. Kirby Kendrick also scored for the Blazers (8-2).
SOLON 38, DEWITT CENTRAL 8 - Marshall Koehn scored with his foot and his hands as the Spartans won a 3A opener at home.Koehn kicked five PATs, a 29-yard field goal and scored on a fumble recovery for Solon (9-1). Zack Ward, Cody Fritz and Brian Jedlicka also scored for the Spartans - Ward on an 18-yard run, Fritz on a fumble recovery in the end zone and Jedlicka on a 6-yard run.
WEST DELAWARE 20, BALLARD 6 - Brandon Domeyer rushed for a pair of touchdowns as the Hawks won a 3A defensive battle in Manchester.West Delaware (9-1) rolled up 88 yards of offense in the first quarter, then got 53 the rest of the game. Ballard (7-3) was limited to 52 yards.Domeyer scored on runs of 16 and 3 yards as the Hawks to a 13-6 halftime lead. West Delaware didn't score again until 12.6 seconds remained, on a Jordan Hoffman 1-yard run.
WEST BRANCH 35, CLAYTON RIDGE 13 - Sophomore running back Cade Jones rushed for 156 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries as the Bears won a 2A opener at home.Rilen Carew, Eli Elliott and Logan Murray also scored for West Branch (9-0).Clayton Ridge (7-4) got touchdowns from Dakota Schroyer, on an 18-yard pass from Calbe Krapfl, and Jeremy Greve, on an 18-yard run.
ELKADER CENTRAL 34, ROCKFORD 28 - Geoffrey Tajaran threw a go-ahead 19-yard touchdown pass to Zack Tade with 5:39 remaining in the game to lead Elkader Central in a Class A game at Rockford.Matt Backes ran for 218 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries and Steven Keppler added two rushing scores for the Warriors (7-3).Rockford finishes the season 8-2.
NORTH CEDAR 7, TURKEY VALLEY 0 - North Cedar emerged victorious following a defensive battle with Turkey Valley in a Class 1A First Round matchup at Stanwood last night.The Knights (9-1) picked off two Warrior passes and capitalized on a fumble as Donny Wachendorf scored on a 5-yard touchdown run and Tyler Canfield added the extra point.
BGM 48, ENGLISH VALLEYS 6 - BGM racked up 376 yards rushing en route to a Class A First Round victory last night at home.Kyle Hawkins led the Bears (9-1) with 188 yards on 11 carries and touchdown runs of 60, 13, 65, and 8 yards. Jevohn Miller added 146 yards and a pair of touchdowns (23,4) and Danny Brau ran for 61 yards, including a 27-yard touchdown.English Valleys, which closes its season at 3-7, got on the board in the fourth quarter on a 20-yard run by Carson Parmenter.
CLARKSVILLE 30, WEST CENTRAL 20 - Caleb Ciavarelli scored on a 24-yard run with just under four minutes to play to give Clarksville it's first lead. Dalton Ciavarelli had 25 carries for 105 and a touchdown for Clarksville (8-2). Michael Lincoln had 18 carries for 83 yards to West Central (7-3).
SIGOURNEY-KEOTA 35, WEST LIBERTY 0 - Mike Bishop had 17 carries for 121 yards and a touchdown to lead Sigourney-Keota to the win at Sigourney. Evan Hammes added 15 carries for 87 yards and three touchdowns for the Savage Cobras (10-0). Sigourney-Keota advances to play Camanche Monday night at 7 p.m. in Sigourney.
CLEAR-CREEK AMANA 22, UNION 15 - Clear Creek Aman pulled off the upset in a 3A District 6 game. Quarterback Dillon Villahuer had 19 carries for 115 yards and scored one rushing touchdown. Jason Rohret caught eight passes for 93 yards and also ran for two touchdowns. Villahuer completed nine of 24 passes and scored a pair touchdowns. Union running back Wes Burnside had 38 carries for 776 yards and scored one touchdown.Trev Hadachek completed four of 15 passes for 73 yards and scored a touchdown for Union. Clear Creek Amana is 6-4, Union finished the season at 9-1.
LISBON 22, BELLE PLAINE 15 - Tate Simpson scored on a 1-yard run with less than a minute remaining to push Lisbon (8-2) to a Class A win at home. Simpson finished the game 8 of 10 passing for 143 yards and a touchdown to go along with his game-winning score. Dustin Drexler and Cooper Northrop both ran for a touchdown for Belle Plaine (5-5).

TARMONT 54, ALBURNETT 14 - Vinnie Otdoefer had 20 carries for 168 yards and three touchdowns to lead Starmont to the win at Arlington. Nate Hamlett added six carries for 94 yards and a touchdown for the Stars (10-0). Mitchell Harger had 26 carries for 146 and a touchdown to pace Alburnett (4-5).
