Recent front-page articles in The Gazette state:
1) Most Americans (including Iowans) wanted health care reform and thought the bill didn't go far enough. (9/26/10)
2) Historians will say “this session of Congress ... was the most productive in nearly half a century.” (10/19/10)
3) Special interests groups from out of state are pouring money into Iowa's Republican campaigns. “Massive amounts coming from outside, undisclosed sources” ... to attack Loebsack and Braley. (10/15/10)
So if the Republicans will represent Iowans, as their ads proclaim, why is the first item on the agendas of Mariannette Miller-Meeks, Ben Lange and Steve King to repeal health care reform?
These special interest recipients have said they will shut down the government to get their way (Gazette 9/27/10).
So this is their idea of working for Iowans? Does this mean they are willing to stop Social Security checks? Stop Medicare payments? Shut down FEMA? Shut down the VA? Stop mail delivery? Shut down federal courts? Prevent federal marshals, the FBI, border patrol workers, homeland security workers and FDA inspectors from doing their duties? Just to embarrass President Obama? And force their special interests group's agenda on us?
So if someone gives you hundreds of thousands of dollars, what do you do for them in return? It is hard to believe these dollars are pouring into Republican coffers because they are so nice.
Miller-Meeks and the Republicans have been bought. Vote for Loebsack, Braley and the Democrats.
