I.C. police search for wallet snatching suspect

Iowa City police are looking for a man who allegedly stole a woman's wallet while she was attempting to get her baby out of the car Tuesday afternoon.
The incident occurred in a parking lot at 1037 Cross Park Avenue just after 12:30 p.m. According to the victim, a man approached her and asked for a cigarette as she was exiting her vehicle. After she told him she didn't have one, the suspect grabbed her wallet from her hand and fled.
Officers responded to the area but did not locate the suspect. The suspect is described as a black male in his late 20's, 5'10”, thin build with brown eyes and black hair. He was last seen wearing black jeans, black shoes and a red stocking cap with a black hoodie pulled over his head.
Neither the victim nor the baby was injured during the incident.
Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers is offering a reward of up to $1000 for information leading to the arrest of this suspect. Anyone with information about this crime is urged to contact CrimeStoppers at 358-TIPS (8477).
