Legislate for all of us, not just your party

I am distressed about the number of Republicans elected Nov. 2, not because Republicans cannot be agents for needed change (and I believe that Sen. Chuck Grassley is a committed legislator) but because I've been hearing too many Republican candidates running on platforms of stopping any idea that is, or has been, supported by or set forth by either President Obama or the Democrats.
Free speech aside, this is totally unacceptable, as it would be for the Democrats to do the same.
1) President Barack Obama's ideas are not automatically wrong or without merit. Rome wasn't built in a day, and we all know that health care needed reforming, even if what we got is less than perfect. Make changes if necessary, but don't take health care reform away.
2) Democrats' ideas are not automatically wrong or without merit - just different from Republicans' ideas.
3) Republicans as well as Democrats should have the best interests of all citizens at heart when serving in our government, not just their own interests.
Too much time is wasted on which party “wins” on every issue. Our government's elected officials aren't being paid to win for their parties. They're being paid to accomplish needed goals for all of us.
