Don’t ridicule others when you break the law

It's depressing to see public ridicule of the traffic cameras. Apparently, many drivers think the speed limits are some favorite number that a police officer happens to like. The truth is that speed limits are determined after extensive traffic engineering study.
Blaming the police chief and the police department because he (or she) broke the law is the fault of only the driver.
The accomplishment of the cameras is already becoming clear. For the violator who doesn't respect the law, there is an easy solution: Obey it or petition the Iowa Legislature to have all the laws pertaining to speed and signs or signals repealed. Then see what happens.
