Many C.R. officials deserve our thanks

I would like to commend the Cedar Rapids mayor, city council, police department and yard waste crew for making our streets safer and cleaner.
First off, I think the speed cameras are great and are doing the job they were intended to do. Follow the rules of the road, drive the speed limit and stop at stop signs/lights. The posted speed limits are the maximum speed one should drive under ideal conditions.
People are complaining but should be slowing down and stopping at the yellow lights instead of speeding through the intersections. Kudos to those responsible for putting up the cameras.
Second, many thanks to yard waste department for purchasing the vacuum trucks for leaf pickup. Not only have these trucks made it easier for homeowners to rid themselves of leaves but it keeps the street gutters cleaner, which helps the sewer system. Having the leaves picked up weekly instead of only once or twice a fall is great.
