‘Don’t ask’ degrades those willing to serve

In regard to the “Don't Ask, Don't Tell” controversy that is being discussed, I think this policy in the military should be repealed.
I think that permitting gay people to openly serve in the U.S. armed forces will do little to no harm to our military because they are willing to serve and protect us here at home.
We should not degrade or belittle the men and women who are willing to protect our interests. Of thousands of military members surveyed, 70 percent predicted there would be no effect or even a positive effect from gays or lesbians serving in the military.
