Iowans, court protect the rights of all

“Our liberties we prize, and our rights we will maintain.”
As Iowans, do we realize where this is printed and what it means?
It is awesome to be an Iowan, but I cannot say I am pleased with our governor-elect who claims that the Senate majority leader is a dictator and that too many Iowans have been persuaded by an unsuccessful Republican governor candidate to vote out three Iowa Supreme Court justices and has subsequently asked for the rest of the Supreme Court to resign because it doesn't fit his narrow view of our residents' rights.
So is Iowa's flag now outdated because it doesn't fit some of our Iowans' political ideology? Isn't it unfortunate that we have elected a governor who would rather pursue his own narrow view of residents' rights rather than what has been the historical precedent that the rights of all are protected by our Iowa Supreme Court?
The Supreme Court was founded to uphold the rights of all residents, to protect them from a political vote that can be campaigned by a “majority people” that wants to suppress their rights.
It is time for all of us to back our Supreme Court and not be swayed by a conservative agenda that suppresses the rights of all people. It is time for us to think for ourselves and remember our place in history as honorable people who protect the rights of all.
