Jan. 6, 2011 12:45 pm
An Iowa City woman is charged with a single count of child endangerment after police said she knew her 15 year old daughter was sexually abusing her 6 year old daughter and sharing video and pictures of it on the internet.
A report filed on January 3rd alleges:
“The victim (6 yrs) informed her (mother) that her sibling (15 yrs) took her in a bedroom and performed sex acts on her while on a web cam with others watching.”
The report states the mother allowed the acts to continue without taking any action.
“Once it comes to your attention you're expected to take actions to keep your children safe, and that's what this woman did not do,” said Iowa City Police Sergeant Denise Brotherton.
The 15 year old has been charged with 2nd degree sexual abuse.
Police said both girls have been separated from each other and their mother and are now getting the professional attention they need.
