Keep funding early childhood education

I had the privilege of attending a program of Christmas songs on Dec. 21 presented by the preschool classes at Monroe Early Childhood Education Center. What a positive experience. As the children marched into the cafeteria and took their places they all looked so proud. Their teachers are to be commended for instilling such confidence in these young children.
I have been in my great-grandson's classroom numerous times and it is such a good feeling to observe the interaction between the children and with their teachers. I hope our incoming governor, Terry Branstad, will find a way to fund this program for our young people. They are off to a good start. Don't let them down. After all, they are our future.
