Stop C.R. City Council’s spending spree
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Jan. 15, 2011 11:23 am
I hope everyone is keeping score on the Cedar Rapids City Council. The Council members are on a spending spree. They don't listen to the people. They would rather bow down to the blackmail of the doctors than listen to what we want.
They buy a hotel that has a poor track record and, at the same time, approve the remodeling of the U.S. Celluar Center, which might cost this city the state girls volleyball championships being played here. With better planning, couldn't they have remodeled and still have the volleyball?
Ever since the mayor and his cronies have gotten in, they have been spending money as if there is no end to it, except where some people could use it. Namely those still on the buyout list. They have been waiting two-and-a-half years.
So when it comes time to re-elect them, remember who listened and who tried to stop certain things like the closing of Second Avenue.
