RoughRiders rally big for 6-4 win at Lincoln

Jan. 16, 2011 1:01 am
What looked like a completely lost weekend in Nebraska was spared with a four-goal third period Saturday night that allowed the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders to squeak past the Lincoln Stars, 5-3, in USHL action.
The Riders lost Friday night at Tri-City, 6-4, and trailed Lincoln after two periods, 3-1. But goals from Ryan McGrath and Stu Wilson in the first 2:55 of the third tied the game, then Jayson Megna put his club on top with a goal at 10:17 of the period.
Sam Warning's empty net goal with 26 seconds left sealed the deal and improved C.R.'s record to 20-5-4 for 44 points, second in the Eastern Conference and the entire USHL.
The Riders return home Wednesday night to host Green Bay, which holds a four-point lead over it in the Eastern Conference.
