Conservative talk show hosts not to blame
Jan. 25, 2011 11:16 pm
The massacre in Tucson, Ariz., was tragic. The harsh accusations from liberal pundits following it were equally tragic. When a liberal sheriff voices partisan vitriol against conservative talk radio hosts, he reveals the character of his political party. When journalist Marvin Kalb complains there are no comparable liberal talk shows on radio, he fails to mention the numerous times liberal talk shows have failed because of lack of an audience.
In blaming conservative talk radio hosts for the Tucson tragedy, those liberal pundits conveniently forget the assassinations of Abraham Lincoln, John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King Jr., etc., the attempted assassinations of Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan, Harry Truman, etc., and the attacks at Virginia Tech, Columbine and Fort Hood. Yet, they are quick to accuse conservative talk show hosts as complicit in murder.
The Democratic Party and its leaders will use this tragic event to promote its continuing goal of banning guns from law-abiding citizens. Unfortunately, historians tell us that every nation that has confiscated guns from its citizens has experienced an increase in crime. Banning guns encourages lawbreakers by making it safer for them to break the law.
When lawbreakers break into the homes or businesses of unprotected citizens, seconds are crucial when the police arrive in minutes.
