West girls clinch MVC division title

Iowa City West defeated Cedar Rapids Xavier, 49-45, last night at Xavier to wrap up its first Mississippi Valley Conference girls' basketball title since 1979.The Women of Troy improved to 15-1 overall and 12-1 in the MVC to clinch the Valley Division championship.Jessica Shull and Ally Disterhoft each scored 11 points for Class 4A third-ranked West.Krissi Tow scored 15 points to pace Xavier (12-6, 8-5).
IOWA CITY REGINA 62, FAIRFIELD 25 (G) - Zoe Dutchik scored 27 points and grabbed eight rebounds for the Regals in a girls' game at Fairfield.
