Snow plow hit by train near Alburnett; no one hurt
Feb. 10, 2011 1:36 pm
UPDATE: No one was injured when a train clipped a snow plow Thursday morning just south of Alburnett, authorities said.
The road grader-style plow was pushing snow back near the railroad crossing on Gilmore Road, just south of Arabian Road, around 11:45 a.m. when the plow was struck by the Canadian National train.
The plow driver, identified as Kevin Butterfield, 54, apparently did not see the train coming, a Linn County sheriff's deputy told SourceMedia Group. There are no crossing arms or sirens at the gravel road crossing.
Both the plow and train sustained little damage.
An investigation was continuing.
