Boys' basketball Friday roundup: Xavier slips past Prairie

Matt McLaughlin and Alec Clausen scored 13 points apiece to pace Cedar Rapids Xavier to a 56-51 victory over Cedar Rapids Prairie last night in a Mississippi Valley Conference boys' basketball game at Prairie.

Carter Valentine added 10 points for the Saints, who improved to 5-14 overall and 4-10 in Valley play.Tom Eilers made three 3-pointers and scored a team-high 13 points for Prairie, who dipped to 3-15 and 2-11.

IOWA CITY WEST 56, IOWA CITY HIGH 33 - Dondre Alexander scored 15 points to lead Iowa City West (8-10, 5-8 MVC) to the Valley victory at City High.Jeremy Johnson scored 14 points and pulled down seven rebounds for the Little Hawks (1-17, 1-13 MVC).

MARION 57, DYERSVILLE BECKMAN 35 - Kasey Semler and Dusty Albaugh led host Marion (13-7, 12-3) with 19 points apiece in a Wamac Conference victoryAlbaugh hit three treys and Semler made all nine of his free throws. Travis Gudenkauf led Beckman with 10 points.
