New act would threaten in-vitro fertilization
The Gazette Opinion Staff

Again the Iowa Legislature is squandering time and resources. This time, it's a bill that establishes personhood from the moment of conception. Whether intentional or not, this misguided legislation would create further hardship for couples undergoing in-vitro fertilization. It also threatens access to some popular birth control options, which work by preventing a fertilized egg from implanting to establish a pregnancy.
Before it's too late, reasonable Iowans need to speak out against this extreme measure.
